Time to Update My Kitchen!

Many moons ago, I asked everyone’s advice on what to do with my kitchen and you all gave me such wonderful suggestions.  We haven’t had the time to do much with it yet, but revamping the kitchen is definitely in our immediate plans.

So far, we have repainted the walls, updated the light fixture, and purchased new barstools for the island.
Our plans to upgrade our kitchen on a {major} budget include new hardware for the cabinets, a glass tile backsplash, a window treatment, and possibly painting the cabinets and island.

The majority of our supplies will most definitely come from Home Depot.  I adore that place.  I could walk around there for hours.
We are very torn on whether or not to paint the cabinets.  They are in great shape, but everything seems so… yellow.

Here is the perfect picture to show exactly what I mean.
So yellow-y.
Plus, I just adore white kitchens.
I do worry how it would look with black appliances, though.
What are your thoughts?
Go for it?  Or leave the cabinets as is?

Either way, be sure to check out the video below to see why
Home Depot is my go-to place for home improvement!

I’m so excited for you! I know this is something you’ve been thinking about for a while. A friend of mine had the same concerns. She wanted a white kitchen, but didn’t think it would look right with black appliances. We came up with a decision to paint the lowers gray and the uppers white. Her remodel is done and it looks fabulous! Now, if she’d just take some pictures! I know yours will look great as well. Let me know if you need any tips on the actual painting because I hovered over our painters’ shoulders so I could see exactly how they did it. 😉

thank you Jen! I would LOVE to see your friend’s kitchen if you ever get her to take photos of it. I have thought about doing the gray bottom and the white top. Do you know if she used a dark or a light gray?

She used an off white for the top and a medium gray for the bottom. I suggested regular paint, but she likes a rustic look so she went with the rustoleum cabinet transformations with the glaze. There are so many two tone gray and white kitchens out right now to get ideas from if that’s the direction you want to go. BM Nantucket Gray would be my choice because it’s a little different.

You should try it and let me know how it looks. I’m dying to do white cabinets but have black appliances as well. 🙂

I also love a white kitchen concept, for the main reason that one can see the dirt immediately. Cleanliness in the house especially in the kitchen area is very important to me that’s why I keep on buying white appliances for our house.
