Hi Mouse House readers!!!  I am thrilled to be a here with a fun and quick DIY feltie hair clip!!!  Since my daughter was born last year I have had so much fun creating girly clothes and accessories!  I love making bows (check out my bow tutorial here) but clips are so cute and maybe even a little more casual for every day use!  With spring time coming I thought a little bird hair clip would be the perfect addition to your little girl’s hair bows and clips!
Materials:
3 colors of felt
2 colors of embroidery floss
Alligator clip
hot glue gun
scissors
large eye embroidery needle
Print out the pattern, pin and cut each felt shape
For this clip, I’m using a blanket stitch around the edge of the clip cover!  First, thread your embroidery floss and knot at one end.  Pull the thread up to secure the knot between the 2 clip covers.
Bring your needle under and up one more time to begin the blanket stitch
When you make your first stitch you will want the tail of the thread to face down.

To create the blanket chain stitch, insert the needle on the top with the tip pointing down.  Make sure the tail is hanging to the right and underneath the tip of the needle as you pull it through.

Continue with this stitch all the way around the clip cover.  When you get to the end, knot it off on the back of the cover.
To insert the alligator clip you are going to cut two little slits in the back of the cover.  MAKE SURE YOU ONLY SLIT ONE PIECE OF FELT!  This picture gives you an idea of how much room to leave.

Take your alligator clip and slide it into the bottom slit and lift the top slit over the alligator clip end.
Use whatever type of decorative stitch for the bird!  I used a simple running stitch on the edge.

When you’re finished, glue the bird to the clip and the wing to the bird!
You could also embellish with little ribbon or beads!  I hope you try this fun DIY craft for the special little girl in your life!
