I was recently contacted by the awesome people from Shot Rockers, which is a website dedicated to making photography understandable, easy to learn, and above all else, something that is affordable. Awesome, right?
They gave me the opportunity to take their “Beginners Guide to Better Photos” class and it caused me to squeal with joy (seriously) because I have been trying to learn more about photography since I got my DSLR a year ago. Even though I have been learning so much just by reading some books and looking around in forums, taking this online class has been invaluable to me because it gave me that “hands-on” learning experience, which is my learning style. The Beginners Guide is a month long class with 28 videos. Each video is approximately 10-15 minutes long, which makes it super attainable to watch just one video a day and then practice what you learn! The videos discuss aperture, exposure, metering, editing, focus, etc. There is so much useful information over the entire course. I honestly can’t recommend it enough for anyone just getting started with photography, or even for anyone that needs a refresher!
I just want to share a few pictures to represent what I learned.
I finally understand a bit more about aperture
and I took some photos of Ainsley’s Squinkies to show what I learned, ha! You can (hopefully) tell that as the pictures progress, more of the picture comes into focus.
This was shot at f/1.8 and I just thought it was cute 🙂
