The Spare Bedroom

Our house has 4 bedrooms and we only have two kids, so that leaves us with one extra room!  Right now, Ainsley has the smallest bedroom in the house, so eventually this will be her room when we transition her to a “big girl bed”.  For now, it’s MY room!!!  Currently, it is a guest room/craft/sewing/storage room.
The daybed and dresser that we have in there will eventually be Ainsley’s furniture (I found all her furniture on Craigslist for only $500 total…. this furniture is worth over $3,000!!!! Score!)  The dresser is in the closet for now and it currently houses all my fabrics and ribbons.  Eventually, I suppose it will house Ainsley’s clothes!

This is my sewing table/hobby table.  I covered a plain black table with some fabric and made a skirt to “pretty it up”.  It is a tight squeeze, but I manage to get everything accomplished (when I find the time):

Close up of my sewing machine and paper cutting board (notice the clock in the background?  I am forever bound by clocks with two young kids!):

I had originally added a play area to my sewing room so that the kids could play while I sewed during the day.  Um, that was a good idea in theory, but it never actually worked.  I didn’t realize how messy I am while sewing and crafting and I always forget about the pins on the floor.  EPIC FAIL.  Kids and pins don’t mix.  The toys are now in the master bedroom.

Isn’t Ainsley’s “future furniture” adorable?  I think she will love it!  I also have a short dresser in our garage that I found in someones trash (yes, their trash!) that I plan to paint for her.  Once she moves into this room, I will officially take over her nursery and I will have an ENTIRE room devoted to my sewing and crafts!!!! YAY~!!
