I Am a Cheater!

I have no shame anymore.  None.  I am officially a DIY cheater and I don’t care (well, maybe just a tad….)

Remember that whole LARGE project that I took on last summer  (find out about it HERE)  ?  You know, the one where I ripped out all the old carpet on the staircase and in the hallway upstairs?  Well, we are *mostly* finished with the upstairs hallway, but the poor staircase has been left bare.
And I can’t take it anymore.
So, I pulled the ultimate DIY cheat job.  I called a contractor.  I am going to PAY someone ELSE to do my dirty work.  Hehehehe.
It’s not that I CAN’T do it.  I don’t WANT to do it anymore.
I might even drink a glass of wine while I watch the CONTRACTOR do it.
Guilt?  I have none.  Shame?  Perhaps just a little.

You’ve done more than your fair share of diy around the house, enjoy that glass of wine! No shame.

Sometimes you just have to call in the troops and say enough! We do every once in awhile…DIYing is a time-suck!

I’m with you. Even within budget constraints I’m only doing the bits I want to (wallpapering, sewing, painting), or the bits that I really ought to learn how (drilling, hammering. Everything else would be done better and faster by a contractor, with guarantees. When countered by DIYers, I tell them I’m paying back into the local community.
