Bellevue Top: Straight Stitch Designs Anniversary Tour

The lovely Kimberly of Straight Stitch Designs invited me to be a part of her one year anniversary blog tour (congrats on one year!) and I immediately said “Yes!” because I desperately needed to make some items for my own wardrobe, which is currently very lacking.  This gave me the perfect opportunity to have a deadline AND try out her patterns.  (Make sure you scroll to the bottom to see the link for the giveaway she is currently hosting!)

I chose the Bellevue Top because I love the simple lines of it and knew it would allow me the opportunity to put my own spin on it.  Kimberly asked the bloggers to “remix” her patterns, but honestly, I loved the pattern so much that I kept the first top very close to the original pattern, and then remixed the second one slightly.   I can’t wait to make more variations of this!

The first one I made is with a very soft grayish, purplish knit that I purchased at Mood Fabrics NYC about 1.5 years ago.  It is incredibly lush against the skin.  I added the lace bottom, which was up cycled from an old dress of mine that didn’t fit properly.  I think this will be so cute paired with the denim jacket and ballet flats for autumn.bellevue8

The second one I made, I modified slightly.  Instead of the curved accent fabric at the hem line, I created a wide band to give it more of a comfy, relaxed sweatshirt feel.  The fabric is a lux french terry with a herringbone terry design on the outer and a super soft gray jersey knit on the inside, also purchased at Mood Fabrics NYC.  Then, I added elbow pads with leather that I cut from a thrift store purse.  Paired with leather boots and skinny jeans, I can’t wait to wear this through autumn and winter!bellevue10

Now, enjoy the photos that are always impossible to get because I have to direct my husband on what to do and deal with children running around.  Always an adventure.  I should really figure out how to properly use the remote and the tripod.bellevue1

You can see that this one whiskers under the armpits.  I should have gone one size up and did so for the next one.  I forgot about the weight I have put on over the last year from eating one too many nachos.  Ha!

I love the added detail from the curved lace hem.  It also hides the tush area 🙂bellvue5

Me, trying to be all “model-y”.bellevue9

Up next is the luxurious french terry that I have been holding onto for the perfect project.  How cool is it?bellevue12

I love how cozy this version is.  Rolling up the sleeves shows off the jersey interior.bellevue3bellevue4

I love that it allows for layering.  Make sure to size up if you plan to do so.bellevue6

I feel like I am looking like a PTA mom that means business here.  And I love it. bellevue5

[…] When I got these pictures a few days ago I squealed a little bit because this remix is everything I want out of a casual Bellevue.  I promptly went online and ordered some fabric to make myself one just like it.  The terry looks so comfy and I am all heart eyes about those leather elbow patches.  This would be the perfect layer for fall.  Gahh I just love it so much!  Get all the details over at Welcome to the Mouse House.
