Time for a Living Room Update!

A long time ago, I started a few posts about redoing our living room.  Check out the posts here and here.  Well, it has been a loooong process only because we have had more important things to worry about (you know…kids, family, work, blah blah blah)

However, I feel like we have finally made enough progress to blog about!  It is nowhere near completed, but still post-worthy!

Here is lovely me prepping the wall to do the stencil  (I bought the stencil here):

Lovely Garrett, cutting in the trim work for me!
Here is a close up shot of the stencil work, but this just isn’t a very good picture:

Late night photo op of me, trying desperately to finish so that I could relax.  Total work time to do the one large wall was about 8 hours, not so bad!:

Awful lighting, but you get the idea:

Yup, I was disheveled and paint covered, but it was all worth it!

Here are some of my inspiration pieces.  The main inspiration piece for the whole room is an awesome original art piece from  http://www.etsy.com/listing/64516410/breathe.  She is an amazingly talented artist and I have ordered several items from her! You will not be disappointed if you check her out (no, I have absolutely no affiliation with her, just love her stuff!)  You can see the art I ordered from her in the middle of the photo, but I still haven’t framed it or decided where it will go, so for now, I have it lumped in with all my inspirational stuff.  Ultimately, it was what helped me decide on a color scheme.  Love it!

The rest of my “stuff” that I will use to decorate with:

Here is the desk that was salvaged from my mum’s house.  I already have plans to build a hutch on top of it to hide all the junk and we will use this as our laptop storage/bill pay area!  For now, I just decorated it with random stuff:

I found three wicker chairs at a thrift store and they went perfectly in this room, but I have since moved them to the front porch until I find a better match for the room.  However, they still looked cute!

I was originally going to sew the curtain panels until I found some on clearance at Home Good for $10 a pair!  Can’t beat that, so I picked up four.  $20 for window treatments.  Woot!  Love the soft yellow.

Used my crazy sewing skills to whip up some pillows for the couch.  Made 4 in total, but only 3 are showing.  2 in a French Country yellow and 2 in a cornflower blue with the coordinating yellow.

Here is the entertainment unit across from the couch that is used to store all the toys and junk.  I currently have junk piled on top of it, but figured I would show the new wall color!  It is much lighter and much fresher!

Moving on to our dining room… I am only going to show part of the dining room for now because there is so much more to be done in this room!
We bought this corner hutch off Craigslist and I still need to repaint it.  Plus, I broke the glass that should be in the doors.  Oops.  So, I guess I will be buying new glass soon.
In the meantime, I decorated it with random stuff I already had and I think it looks pretty cute.

Found two adorable bird prints at Home Goods for a super good price and I have since hung them, but here they are leaning against the buffet:

Corner chair, not permanently staying, but still looks cute in the meantime!

Thanks for looking!  Any suggestions!  We still have a ton more to do….. paint the dining room a totally different color (wait until you see what we have decided to do!), add a hutch to the desk in the living room, better organize the living room, add the plate wall above the couch, etc!  But I always love suggestions!
