The WORST Room in the House

I am sure that everyone has a room in their house that they loathe, hate, despise, cry over….right?  Well, I definitely have that room and it’s our master bathroom.  It is horrible, awful, ugly, and a waste of space.  It’s one of those rooms that “appears” lovely and grand when you quickly glance at it, but trust me.  It’s terrible.  We can’t wait to redo the entire thing, but that won’t happen for a while because it will be expensive.  In the meantime, we plan to do small renovations, such as paint over the awful, sickly green walls, redo the flooring with some cheap-o peel and stick tiles (anything would be better than the linoleum that is currently there!), and replace the blinds.
Take a peek at our “master” bathroom:
Upon entering, you immediately see this GIANT soaking tub and it appears to be so lovely, right?  Um, no.  First off, it is a big as a small swimming pool!  I am a tiny person and would probably drown in this thing.  Can you even imagine what the water bill would be if I took a bath in that monstrosity every night?  Not only that, but there are no jets or warming features, so by the time it fills up, it gets cold!  Ridiculous waste of precious space!!
Plus, who the heck has the time to sit and relax in a bathtub?  Certainly not me!  So, instead, we currently use the giant tub for storage.  haha.  Right now, it holds our cloth diaper pail, some toilet paper rolls, and the shower curtain we eventually want to hang.

Moving on to the sink area.  Okay, we have a really large bathroom, but ONLY ONE SINK!!!  What the heck?!  I want two sinks damnit!  It’s all because of that beastly tub…. it left no room for double sinks.  Our last house had double sinks….. I miss them!

We recently hung the white mirror above the lonely sink to help make the space a little nicer.  Previously, it was one of those giant contractor style mirrors.  Oh, but if you look closely, the previously owners left a nice hole in the wall to the right of the mirror that they poorly attempted to patch up.  That is another thing on our to-do list.

You probably can’t tell in this picture, but the walls are an AWFUL, SICKLY, GAG-WORTHY green.  Truly.   It is an awful awful color and has seen it’s better days.  Can’t wait to see that go.

Here is what I refer to as the “Time Travel Capsule”.  THIS is our shower.  Like I said previously, I am a fairly tiny person and even I have trouble squeezing into this capsule.  It has no storage on the inside and god forbid you drop your razor….you can hardly even bend over to pick it up.

So, to recap…. we have an oversized stupid tub AND a tiny, ugly shower stall that leaks.  Perfect.

Oh, I guess I forgot to mention that the previous owners had a fetish for palm trees?  Yep, I am tearing that down this weekend.

Do you see the yellow rectangle on the floor?  No, that isn’t a floor mat…. it is a STAIN from the previous owners’ floor mat.  It is a permanent stain that I try to cover with our floor mat.  I HATE linoleum.

Well, I think venting about my bathroom made me feel much better.  Phew.  It is good to get things off your chest, you know?
