Ethan’s Room is Finished!

Update:  Ethan’s NEW bedroom can be found HERE

FINALLY, we can say that one room in the house is finished! Well, almost finished because I still have a few more things to do, but I can pretty much say that Ethan’s room is good to go. Can you tell what the theme is? haha. I had so much fun putting all these things together and I didn’t spend much money at all…. Craigslist was my best friend throughout most of the project.

Don’t you just love the oars above the bed? Yep, this was a Craigslist find: $10 for both oars. I am thinking about spraypainting the black one, but I am not sure what color.

Not the best picture but it shows his window treatments (an Ebay find!) and the accessories on the shelf (Craigslist!)
Gotta have a Nautical Flag, right?(Craigslist)

I (painstakingly) hung beadboard wallpaper ALL BY MYSELF to give it that coastal feel. It truly looks like the real-deal wooden beadboard, but without the crazy cost! I also cut and hung all the molding in the room, not to mention counter-sunk all the nails, PLUS filled with wood putty and caulk. I rock. haha. Sure, Garrett did the painting, but how hard is that?

Reading chair with cute sailboat mobile above it (another Craigslist find!)

I had 3 special artwork pieces custom made for Ethan’s birthday by a friend of mine: http://www.etsy.com/shop/QuietCity She does amazing work and it looks like it took a TON of time to complete. Thanks Courtney!
On the shelf above the artwork are more Craigslist finds. I told you I love Craigslist!

This is a view of his room from the hallway. I love the big “E” leaning on the molding. I found that for a great price at Marshall’s.

Well, now that we are almost done Ethan’s room, it’s time to move onto another project…. Repainting and refinishing a kitchen table and a hutch to match. Let’s see how long that project takes!

P.S.  I REALLY need to get updated/better shots of the room, but here they are for now, linked up to:

His room looks magnificent! You have convinced me to make Craigslist my best friend when I renovate. lol… Also. I can’t believe that that was wallpaper and not beadboard. It looks so real even on the close up photo.

The oar would look cool navy with red stripes, distressed. And maybe a white sand-thru on the other? Really adorable room. I love nautical. My son’s is also.

Cute! Love the fun touches you found. I am working towards changing my five year old son’s room to have a boat/nautical/lake theme since we live on a lake and loves boats and swimming. Thanks for sharing these fun ideas,
