Natural?

Those of you that know me well know that I like to use all natural products, such as

cloth diapers, cloth wipes, cloth towels instead of paper towels, cloth napkins, cloth grocery bags, basically almost everything is cloth.
In addition to using cloth, I also make all our own cleaning products using all natural ingredients. I make all our disinfectants, all-purpose cleaners, toilet bowl scrub, window cleaners, dishwashing detergent, laundry detergent, etc.
A while ago, a friend gave us something they found on clearance at a store and he thought it would be perfect for us because it was labeled “All Natural” and “Family Friendly”. I thought it was very nice of this person to think of us!

Just yesterday, I decided to check out the labels on these “all natural” cleaners before I used them. I was rather concerned and I am starting to think that the mainstream idea of “natural” products is all a hoax. Check it out for yourself:

Check out this label…It says it is “100% natural ingredients using new bio-chemical technology”. What the HECK is “bio-chemical technology? Also, when I make my own cleaners, I certainly am not worried about a caution label. The second picture shows “Keep out of reach of children” and has “First Aid” directions. Hmmm. Granted, I still keep my homemade cleaners out of Ethan’s way, but these labels are a little disconcerting.

This is the label that cracks me up the most. “Ingredients: Citric Acid- 4.5%, Other Chemicals- 95.5%” HAHAHA! What the heck does “Other Chemicals” mean??? Makes you wonder how much money these kinds of companies are making on their “All Natural” products…

I know exactly what you mean, I was using an “all natural” all purpose cleaner, because I wanted something a little more environmentally friendly and more gentle to use around James. My cleaner has warning labels all over it too…crazy stuff! I think they just put the natural ingredients labels on them so more people buy them. Good grief!
