The Bumps of Toddlerhood

Lately, Ethan has been a complete klutz (he must take after me!) Last weekend, we stayed at a hotel. He was being silly and running around the room and he took a major dive head first into the ironing board….smacked his cheek and chin right on the cross-bar. The bruise showed up almost instantly. Of course, it was right before a wedding reception! Now, all his pictures from the wedding are tainted.

Well, we thought that was bad enough, but we got home and Ethan was toddling around our kitchen. Again, he was being silly and tried to grab onto the kitchen chair, but missed it. SMACK! He fell straight down onto the side of his face/head! Garrett and I just about died. It was the loudest thump I have ever heard. I thought for sure that he cracked his whole head open. Ethan cried so hard, probably the hardest he has ever cried before! We kept our eye on him and were about to call the doctor’s office. Luckily, he seemed fine after a few minutes. We immediately put an ice pack on his head. We were quite innovative with how we kept the ice pack on his head… check out the picture. Ace bandages are very useful! (the third picture shows that he was totally happy again after a few minutes:)
